The Skeptics’ Toolbox

Here at Skeptics Corner, we want to give you useful tools to help you explore questions about Christianity, the Bible, and the evidence that can provide a foundation for faith. Our goal is not to tell you what to think, but to point you toward resources that can help you examine the evidence, think through the questions carefully, and reach your own conclusions.

We don’t expect every resource listed here to agree with Hope Through Truth—or with one another—on every secondary issue. We’ll explain what each resource does well, the perspective it brings, and anything we think you should know before using it.

A large, searchable collection of concise, Bible-based answers to questions about Christianity, Scripture, theology, and everyday spiritual concerns.

Best for: Quickly finding a clear Christian perspective on a specific Bible verse, doctrine, objection, or spiritual question.

Why we recommend this resource and what to know

What they offer

GotQuestions.org provides an extensive, searchable library of articles addressing questions about the Bible, Christianity, theology, relationships, ethics, other religions, and spiritual life. Visitors can also explore audio and video resources or submit a Bible question for a personal response.

Why Hope Through Truth recommends them

Their searchable question-and-answer format makes it easy to begin investigating a specific subject without previous theological training. Their answers consistently direct readers to relevant Bible passages, clearly express their Christian convictions, and provide useful starting points for deeper study. The ministry states that its published articles and responses to personally submitted questions are reviewed by staff for biblical and theological accuracy.

Who this resource may help most

This resource may be especially helpful for someone who has a particular question about Christianity or the Bible and wants a concise answer, relevant Scripture passages, and suggestions for further exploration. It may also benefit readers who feel overwhelmed by longer books or more academic resources.

Their approach or perspective

Got Questions Ministries describes itself as Christian, evangelical, theologically conservative, and nondenominational. Its statement of faith affirms the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, the Trinity, the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death and bodily resurrection, and salvation by grace through faith in Christ.

Anything worth knowing before you visit

GotQuestions.org writes from a conservative evangelical perspective. On debated secondary matters, it generally favors complementarian church leadership, young-earth creationism, and a dispensational, premillennial, pretribulational understanding of the end times. Christians from other traditions may reach different conclusions on these subjects while sharing its foundational Christian beliefs.

Articles generally do not identify their individual authors. The ministry explains that its staff reviews the content and that its president and CEO is ultimately accountable for what it publishes.

A link from Hope Through Truth means that we believe this resource can be genuinely helpful; it does not mean that we endorse every interpretation or secondary conclusion found there.

How to use the resource

Begin by searching for one clearly worded question. Read the Bible passages cited in their surrounding context, compare the answer carefully with Scripture, and follow related articles when you want to explore the subject more deeply. If the existing library does not address your question, you can submit it directly to the Got Questions team.

We’re continuing to review additional resources for The Skeptics’ Toolbox. Rather than build a long directory, we’re adding resources one at a time as we find those we believe are genuinely useful and worth recommending.
